State of the Media and Getting Your Story Out
When
26 Aug 2014
9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Location
Perimeter Center Conference Center, Richmond
You have a web site, are using social media and even make sure that you send out an email newsletter each month. But even in this great world of digital media, there is one place you can’t forget to share your story and your news – traditional mass media. Reporters, producers and editors want to hear your news and spread it as much as you do. And the reality is they often have a much greater audience than you do. In this four hour course, we’ll discuss the state of the media, what journalists are looking for (stories, video, photos, quotes, expert opinion, powerful stories, news), how to craft a press release to garner their attention and how to utilize the many tools the mass media offers (did you know most media outlets have online calendars, social media and their own email newsletters?).
